Social Media Scientist Claims ‘Sex’ Articles Most Shared on Facebook

‘Social Media Scientist’ Dan Zarella has written a new report that states that Facebook users share articles more often if the content is about sex.

While we are all fully aware that sex is one of the top content ‘go-tos’ on the Internet (whether people want to admit it or not) it is amazing to me not only is ‘sex’ the numero uno of shared articles on Facebook, but that Facebook itself allows the content …

Easy Ways To Extend The Reach Of Your Blog

Easy Ways To Extend The Reach Of Your Blog

With the new year a number of new blogs are created partly as a result of a resolution. New bloggers put a number of hours into their site only to be frustrated by the lack of readership and/or traffic. Your blog may start out as a great passion, but that can quickly drain if you don’t get some sort of recognition through comments, tweets, Facebook re-posts, or just the sheer number of visitor numbers.

WordPress Now Updates To The Cloud

WordPress Now Updates To The Cloud

Image20Wordpress made an interesting announcement today by posting that they turned on support for all 7.5 million blogs on Wordpress.com to something they call the RSS Cloud. Basically, it’s a way for people to get push notification that your blog feed has updated.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: My blog updates already notify people through services like Ping-O-Matic and let people know about my new blog post. To be honest, it all depends on your RSS reader and how often you have it set to check for new articles. Currently, most people interact with RSS feeds by checking its update every now and then – typically about once an hour. Could you imagine waiting an hour for an email? The RSS Cloud is an extra element in your RSS feed that allows subscribers to say “Hey, let me know as soon as you’ve updated, kthx.”

Upgrade WordPress To Avoid Attack

Upgrade WordPress To Avoid Attack

Image20It’s a beautiful holiday weekend here in the States and many bloggers who decided to enjoy the Labor Day festivities may have missed a HUGE news story that came out on Friday/Saturday. Any version of Wordpress below 2.8.4 are now under attack!

The latest version of Wordpress 2.8.4 made some changes to the WP-Login.pho file through which attackers are able to create Admin ID’s and then do some changes in your permalink by populating it with their own keywords. As a result, you will lose your links, traffic and most of your Wordpress database. Does that scare you enough to make the upgrade?

Catch Tweets As Blog Comments

Catch Tweets As Blog Comments

chatcatcherAfter spending the last two days creating this new blog site as part of Rockland USA’s redirection of efforts I spent a few hours looking over the site. I wanted to experiment with new ways of creating interaction of each blog article and display those numbers on the site. It has been my experience with celebrity blogging that people on Twitter would comment on the article as a tweet, but not comment on the WordPress site itself. That was frustrating until today when I discovered a relatively new plug-in called Chat Catcher.
