logo-buzzomOne of my Sunday morning Twitter rituals is to unfollow all those who have decided to unfollow me. I am one of the few that subscribe to the reciprocation theory of Twitter – if you follow me I will follow you in return or visa versa. However, many people seem to take advantage of this just to get you to follow in return only to unfollow you later once they got your follow. On this particular morning I have over 2,000 to unfollow. Did you follow that?

One of my followers from Amsterdam (@Jankovitch) caught my tweet regarding my mass unfollowing work and asked me what I used to accomplish this. Because my follower/following numbers are 32,000+ and growing by several thousand a week, I cannot use many of the established services. One I can still use is TWITin.

Facebook & Twitter Can Get You Robbed

fb-twitterIt’s no secret that I have thousands of ‘friends’, ‘followers’, and ‘stalkers’ on the various social networking sites. Sure, many I do not know that well (or at all for that matter), but I do take the time to read as many updates from my net friends as time permits.

What I find amazingly shocking is the updates that many post in full public view. Over this past summer I have seen a slew of vacation updates, road trip reports, and so forth. The first thought that comes into my seedy little head is that their house is completely unoccupied and they are telling me the coast is clear for theft! Why not put a big neon sign in front of your house telling passerbys that you’re not home so they can take that beautiful 60″ plasma flat screen from your theater room.
