BREAKING: Android 2.2 Froyo Download and Manual Update

Google has begun pushing out the latest version of their Android OS to Nexus One users over the air (OTA). There are multiple reports spreading around the message boards in the last 12 hours confirming the update.

If you want to do the update manually, we have made available the ZIP file for download and instructions below on how to do the upgrade. Please remember, this update only works for stock T-Mobile versions of the Nexus One. This means that if you have rooted and have an unlocked bootloader, do not attempt this update. Manual Update Instructions

1. Download file: http://rocklandusa.tv/google/signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip – 44.4MB

2. Rename the file to update.zip (Windows users just rename it to update without the zip)

3. Copy the update.zip file onto the root of your microSD card (meaning not in any folders)

4. With your Nexus One off, hold down the trackball and press the power button.4

5. You’ll be booted into a white screen with three Android robots on skateboards. Select “Bootloader.”

6. On the next screen, select “Recovery.”

7. Your phone will reboot, giving you a picture of the Android robot and an exclamation point inside a triangle.

8. Now press the power button and volume up button at the same time. It could take a couple of tries.

9. Now (using the trackball this time) choose “Apply sdcard:update.zip” and let things run their course.
